Introduced in 1968, The original version, it was developed by the Soviet Union as a platoon carrier as well as a worthy adversary to America's Apache. The 24 varition is now rare as many were updated to 25 (D) standard to save military funds.
Its now most commonly used in the Desert areas of Asia and Russia.
It features in Metal Gear Solid 3 patroling the mountain area. (Game claims Granin designed it)
