Overview
The year is 2015, since the Manhatten incident, Private Military Companies have become the main fighting force in wars due to a major decine in the use of foreign soldiers supporting sides. As a result PMC's are a major threat to the world. Liquid Snake following his fathers dream creates a secret mother company called "Outer Heaven" that 5 of the largest PMC's report back to based in the Middle East. Liquid is planning an armed uprising! Its up to Solid Snake to do one last mission to finally defeat his brother and remove the Patriots, who seem to agree with Liquid / Ocelots plans supporting his PMC forces with their latest AI Metal Gear Gekko... In this era of PMC's Roy & Meryl have refounded Fox Hound, Raiden will be Snakes guardian as the 3rd Generation Ninja!
Story
The Story starts with Snake visiting his late fathers grave (Big Boss) who for the past few months has been learning his techniques of Close Quarters Combat. As Snake salutes his grave a UH-60 lands and Otacon comes over to meet him, returning with Snake to the helicopter, Snake is met by his old commander Roy Campbell. He explains the situation, discussing how he had reformed FoxHound in an effort to support Snake and help defeat the Outer Heaven faction.

Snake wears a disguise to mix in with the local PMC troops, who's mission is to regain control of the area from the Outer Heaven troops. Using the available cover Snake makes his way to the target selected by Otacon and Roy. Taking a rest in cover Snake is ambushed by 2 Gekkos, after a brief escape up stairs Snake uses his Octo-Camouflage to avoid the pending attack from the Gekko's by blending into the surrounding environment. After being fooled by a box the Gekko's move off to another target.

Snake is cornered by a group of Gekko's, distracted by one of their own brought down in a nearby street, they move round to see a cloaked man standing in the middle of the road clenching a sword. Attacking as a pack the man systematically defeats all that tried to attack and reveals himself to Snake (Raiden).

Snake unable to defeat Liquid, tries to commit suicide.... but is stopped by Otacon.

Snake now regrouped and focused in a new location has some new gear from Otacon including a visual sensor called "Solid Eye" and Otacon is personally supporting Snake this time via his latest creation Metal Gear MK II.

Analysis
This game once again will be a segmented mission and like MGS2 & 3 we are seeing more of the first chapter than anything else. It will be interesting to see how Vamp, the Marine Metal Gear Ray and the possible return of Big Boss shall effect the story of this game...
