While following Solid Snake's trail,
I stumbled upon an enigma.
An enigmatic existence bent on total domonation...
The Patriots.
I first learned of the organization known as the Patriots after the terrorist take over of the Big Shell in America.
The incident can trace its roots to to the hijacking of an oil tanker travelling through New York Harbor.
The leader of the hijackers was none other than Solid Snake.
Fearing an environmental disaster,
the Navy dispatched the Marines to defuse the treat.
The tanker quickly turned into a war zone,
and eventually sank to the bottom of the ocean, taking Snake with it.
Its cargo subsequently poured into the water,
causing damage so devastating, the clean-up would last for centuries.
That was the start of everything.
It's two years later,
and an offshore purification plant called the Big Shell has been erected in the harbor.
It was during the U.S president's visit to this facility that the real incident occured.
The Big Shell was captured by a unit led by Solid Snake,
a man supposedly dead,
with the president as their hostage.
In response, the military sent Raiden,
FOXHOUND's newest member,
thus beginning another infiltration operation.
It was during his mission that Raiden made an unxpected encounter...
Solid Snake.
But he wasn't a terrorist.
Someone else had been passing himself off as Snake.
The real Solid Snake, now regarded as a criminal,
had infiltrated the facility to try and stop the terrorists.
The leader of the group,
the imposter who'd captured the Shell under Snake's name,
was a man with the codename Solidus Snake.
He was the third snake, after Solid and Liquid,
and a perfect clone of Big Boss.
But Solidus also had a deep connection to Raiden.
Raiden was formerly a child soldier raised by Solidus.
A show down with his adoptive father,
and the shedding of his past.
Raiden and Snake joined together to stop Solidus.
But Solidus, his back to a wall,
activated Arsenal Gear, a giant Metal Gear.
The Big Shell, symbol of peace,
was actually a massive weapon.
Raiden confronted Solidus as he moved in on Manhattan.
However, Solidus's fight wasn't with Raiden.
Solidus sought to bring down they who would control the world...
The Patriots.
New York devastated,
Solidus let out his battle cry.
Having learned the truth,
Raiden disappeared with Solid Snake into the depths of the city.
their true enemy in their sights.
The Snake's fight was far from over.
